| Description |
Wooden Ice Box (3' 8" high, 19" deep, 26" wide).This wooden ice box has different compartments, which holds various amounts of ice. ( 75 to 100 pounds). A tube led from the ice compartment to a pan below to catch the melted water. This had to be emptied 2 or 3 times per day. Below the ice compartment there was a larger compartment, and this is where the food was kept. This was used by the Wm. W. McMinimy family in Wichita before mechanizes refrigerators were made. |
